GALVESTON, CTX (Collegian) Courtesy of Penn State University In an article in this month's issue of Thaumaturge, Dr. Palmer of the Penn State Department of Esoteric Studies released new data supporting a decrease in the rating of Confederate Texas’ supernatural energy from 6.9 to 5.02 on the widely used Kellner Scale.
In the article, Palmer states: “This seems to be a direct result of Reunification and the results of events during the City of Glass deployment. We are aware that the Sovereign State of New Orleans sacrificed an artefact known as the Key of Set to force open a gate and allow an attack on the Technosphere. While we do not have complete details of the artefact, it appears to have served two primary functions: raising the magic level in Texas to allow Sovereign State forces a level playing field and the raising of large numbers of zombies. All current data would indicate that this sacrifice and Reunification have caused changes to Texas but the data is inconsistent in several particulars.”
Charlie Tannen, a graduate student in the State Department of Esoteric Studies working for Dr. Kellner, commented: “The data indicates that the magic level fluctuates from 6.4 down to 2.8 in various areas and seems to be variable based on a variety of factors. Fear, hope, religious faith and previous magical activity are the factors that seem to matter most. From the time of the invasion, certain religious rites of protection seemed more effective in Confederate Texas and that still appears to be the case. We find the rating in Galveston remains consistent but has dropped substantially elsewhere. It is, of course, not practical to take readings in areas such as Corpus Christi.”
Secretary of War Hamilton P. Bee commented: “Demon-Government of New Orleans hit us hard but our government, people and strong allies have held them back. We believe this news only strengthens us as in many places Texas force of arms will be able to operate unencumbered by dark magics.”
