ALBANY, ENY (Collegian) General Sykes, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs and Commander of the Empire of New York Air Force unveiled new combat aircraft for the Empire today. “The F-97 is our first new aircraft built using purely ENY facilities. It will soon take the skies in defense of the Empire. I would like to personally thank Dr. Samuel Buckman for all of his efforts.”
Sources within the ENY Air Force say that the aircraft is most similar in capabilities to the pre-Event F-101 Voodoo and therefore not as capable as one of the Empire’s aging F-16s but fully reproducible and therefore useful for the possible projection of force using the Multi-ton Gate. Those same sources indicate that the aircraft will be immediately used for air patrols within the Empire. Imperial military planners are concerned that Reunification increase the risk of pre-emptive strikes, including nuclear ones.
