Confederate Texas Announces Naval Campaign

Galveston, CTX (Collegian) Secretary of War Hamilton Bee announced today that Texas will be shifting its war effort against the Sovereign State of New Orleans to naval actions with enemy forces mostly evacuated from Confederate Texas.  “We will still need to mop up what is left, so it may be a few months before we can stand down our ground forces but it looks like the next phase is a matter for our navy and our naval allies.  I understand that we cannot get in there to launch an invasion but we can certainly make sure they can’t get out either.”

Spirits in Confederate Texas are running quite high and there is support for continuing the battle.  Texas Senator Samuel Bell Maxey also commented:  “We beat Santa Anna, we beat the Yankees and now we drove the Devil out. Let’s go free all of those people in New Orleans where they are FOOD. We can do it! All it takes is courage, powder and shot.”
