LETTER TO SURVIVORS OF THE TECHNOSPHERE

E-mail Print PDF

Hello to all of you.  My name is Sergeant Major Bartholomew Masters of the 4th Texas artillery.  I am a citizen of Confederate Texas speaking on my own and do not speak for my government.  I am writing to thank you and your nation for gifts you have given us at a greater cost to yourselves than any could have imagined.

While I have traveled this world for almost 15 years since things changed, I only met Technomages a bit over a year ago when I joined the JET and took some Gate training which Dr. Sim was a guest lecturer for.  I will admit that I really didn’t understand most of what he was saying but he has always seemed a nice fellow and helped us recently in preparation for San Antonio.  Other than that and few pleasantries, I only know what I read in the newspapers and that a Papal delegation came to speak to your President.  I read of Reunification but didn’t understand it much more than most.  I heard my government was going to ask to be included but I was too busy with the war to pay much mind to it.

I came back from San Antonio to drop off JET personnel and give some awards and heard that my country was on the list to be saved by Reunification.  I was stunned but had to get back through the gate to Penn State for new orders.  It was only after I returned from a mission to Aurora, Texas at Hive request that I learned the truth.

You sacrificed your nation to save mine and in the process weakened our enemy and gave us a really good fighting chance, which is all a Texan needs.  Apophis broke his greatest weapon against you and now maligns your name.  I am no poet and do not have the words to thank you.

Therefore, I say this.  If ever any survivor of your nation could use the help of an old Texas artilleryman, please let me know.  I can’t imagine what I can do for you but I will be there.  In the meantime, I will raise a toast to you in every bar and deck the man who speaks against you.  I will mourn your people and honor them.

In deepest respect,

Sergeant Major Bartholomew Masters
